We paticipate in "Cantania"

This year, Primary 5 students will participate in the Project Cantania. This project, with more than 25 years of history, is organized by the Auditori de Barcelona and consists of a cantata written specifically for the occasion. This concert gathers students between 8 and 12 years of age from many different schools. The students sing accompanied by an orchestra made up of 10 musics, 2 singers and a narrator. This year our students will be performing the work “La noche de las pesadillas", composed by the musician Álex Martínez and the writer Marta Buchaca. The main characters is a child, Lucas, who has to go to a campsite and he is very frightened. That is some news!
Throughout the second term our Primary5 pupils have been preparing for the Cantata, under the guidance of Mrs. Lola Chamorro. The concert will take place on the 28th May, at the Riberas del Guadaira Auditorium.

Inspiring an interest: Science for Kids

http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/
The aim of Science Kids is to provide educational resources for teachers and parents that help make science fun and engaging for kids, taking important concepts and putting them into a form that kids can not only understand but also enjoy.
Inspiring an interest in science at a young age can help kids grow up with the tools needed to form questions about the world around them and make decisions based on their own reasoning.
Fun activities, facts, projects and experiments can be the first step in fostering a desire amongst kids to learn more about science and technology, subjects that have practical applications in both careers and everyday life.

Why do we use the "Natural Approach" in our English classes?

Teaching according to the Natural Approach involves the following principles:
  • Focuses on communicative abilities.
  • One of its objectives is to help beginners become intermediate.
  • Vocabulary is considered prior to synthactic structures.
  • A lot of comprehensible input must be provided.
  • Use of visual aids to help comprehension.

Emotional education

Educating children for life. Equiping them with the basic tools to understand this complex world, to develop positive emotions, to understand and tolerate, to improve the world. Emotional intelligence is a fundamental component of human potential that has to work in class by creating situations that encourage performance, the establishment of a favourable climate in the classroom and specific attention to the development of this competence. Aware of its importance, the teachers of our centre in full, are immersed in a training programme on emotional competence through the Centre for Teachers of Seville, advised by Almudena Serra.

Transcript:
"When a child is born we do everything we can to protect them, nurture them, love them. A child’s heart and mind are fragile. As they grow we want to teach them everything that we know; we send them to school to fill their minds with wonderful knowledge, to give them the tools they need for life.

Ipad Apps to learn English at an early stage

Within the curriculum development, our current system structures digital competence as one of the core areas of learning. It's not enough to use ICT tools as a resource in our classes. We are required as teachers to develop this competence in our students. Levels of Ed. Infantil is a very basic task that can start with the management of mobile devices. Here we recommend some apps that are interesting for the early onset of a second language.

Classification

This poster is very useful when establishing a clear classification of the animal kingdom. There are many others that you can see in the images of your web browser if you click on the image below.

Animal kingdom classification poster

Animal Kingdom

We have already started at all levels of  Primary Ed. the topic "Animal Kingdom", which will run until early March. We have already discussed much of the documentary "Jungles" of the BBC series "Planet Earth II", which we highly recommend . It's in simple English with a few indications and the support of the images can be easily understood. Once the language used has been reviewed, we will watch it again, but this time focused on the written part through worksheets. Locution documentary is presented by David Attenborough. After the first season, "Planet Earth II" nullifies the saying "sequels are never as good as the first one".

Exhibition "Solar System"

We have already finished the exhibition on the "Solar System". To say that the groups have worked well, both in terms of support materials and the quality of oral content. The phrases have been well structured, the "speech" was sufficiently fluid and pronunciation was correct. Congratulations!

El grupo de  Joel, Sophia ,Carmen y Ana,, de 5º de Primaria durante su exposición.
We are on track with the new project "Animal Kingdom", we expect to showcase this as soon as the  materials are ready to support the exhibition.
